Professional lawn care gives your lawn a strong starting point, but successful recovery and new-grass establishment also depend on watering, weather, property conditions, after-care, and other factors outside our control. The information below explains those responsibilities and limitations so you know what to expect before and after service.
Good Results Are a Partnership
Aerating Thatching Co. performs the scheduled lawn service using professional equipment and materials appropriate to the work being completed. Once the service is finished, proper homeowner after-care and site conditions play an important role in what happens next, especially when the lawn has been overseeded.
If your service included overseeding, Core Aeration, Dethatching (Power Raking), or Starter Fertilizer, follow the appropriate watering, mowing, and traffic guidance after the service.
Seed Care & Germination
Grass seed is a living product and requires consistent, proper watering during germination and establishment. Newly seeded areas should be kept appropriately moist according to the after-care instructions, with watering adjusted for rainfall and site conditions.
Aerating Thatching Co. is not responsible for problems caused by inadequate or excessive watering, uneven sprinkler coverage, or failure to follow appropriate after-care practices.
Existing weeds and new weed growth may compete with newly seeded grass. Aerating Thatching Co. does not provide weed removal or weed-control services, and weed management is the homeowner's responsibility.
Overseeding Results
Grass seed germination and establishment cannot be guaranteed. Results depend on factors outside our control, including watering, weather, soil conditions, existing lawn conditions, sunlight, drainage, traffic, sprinkler coverage, and homeowner after-care.
Different areas of the same lawn may also germinate or establish at different rates because moisture, sun exposure, shade, soil temperature, and other growing conditions are rarely identical throughout a property.
Conditions Outside Our Control
Aerating Thatching Co. is not responsible for lawn damage, reduced germination, poor establishment, or other problems caused by conditions or actions outside our control, including but not limited to:
- Use of herbicides within the first three months after service when that use interferes with new-grass establishment
- Incorrect or inappropriate application of herbicides or other lawn-care products
- Over-fertilization
- Under-watering, overwatering, or uneven watering
- Vandalism or damage caused by animals
- Excessive or concentrated foot, pet, equipment, or recreational traffic
- Soil, drainage, shade, irrigation, or other existing property conditions
- Other maintenance practices performed after our service
Weather & Environmental Conditions
Weather and environmental conditions can significantly affect lawn recovery, seed germination, and establishment. These conditions are outside Aerating Thatching Co.'s control.
Examples include heavy rain, prolonged wet conditions, drought, excessive heat, cold temperatures, snow, wind, unusual seasonal weather, and other environmental conditions that may affect germination, establishment, or lawn recovery.
Property Marking & Damage Prevention
Lawn-service equipment can contact items that are difficult or impossible to see from the surface. Property owners are responsible for clearly identifying and marking vulnerable items before service begins.
Aerating Thatching Co. is not responsible for damage to unmarked, hidden, or improperly marked items, including:
- Sprinkler heads and other irrigation components
- Oil tank caps
- Shallow cable, television, internet, or communication lines
- Invisible pet fencing
- Shallow pipes or utilities
- Landscape lighting, low-voltage wiring, or related components
- Drainage components or other lawn-level fixtures
- Any other hidden, shallow, or vulnerable item that lawn-service equipment could contact
Lawn Access, Products & New-Grass Protection
Product precautions and protection of newly seeded grass are separate considerations. Follow any applicable product directions while also protecting young grass from unnecessary disturbance during establishment.
Follow Product Guidance
Follow any applicable instructions provided for fertilizers or other products used as part of your service, including any precautions relevant to people, pets, or lawn access.
Protect New Grass
Minimize unnecessary foot traffic, pet traffic, sports, furniture, equipment, and other concentrated activity on newly seeded areas while the grass is establishing.
Follow After-Care
Proper watering, mowing, traffic management, and other after-care practices are important parts of establishing newly seeded grass and supporting lawn recovery.
Vehicles, Structures & Equipment
Please move vehicles, portable equipment, furniture, toys, hoses, decorations, and other movable property away from areas where lawn-service equipment will be operating.
Notify Stewart before work begins about sensitive areas, structures, landscaping features, access restrictions, or other conditions that could be affected by machinery.
Aerating Thatching Co. is not responsible for damage to vehicles, equipment, structures, or other property located within or immediately adjacent to the work area when adequate clearance or advance notice has not been provided.
Clean-Up & Lawn Conditions
Lawn services naturally disturb soil and plant material. Depending on the service and conditions, the property may temporarily have soil plugs, loosened organic material, grass debris, dirt, or mud.
We make a reasonable effort to clean up material created by our work, but some residual soil, mud, grass material, or other lawn debris may remain, particularly when the property is wet or service is performed during or following rainy conditions.
Core Aeration plugs left on the lawn are an intentional part of the service and should normally be allowed to break down naturally rather than being removed.
Herbicides, Fertilizers & Other Lawn Treatments
Products applied by the homeowner or another lawn-care provider after our service can affect newly seeded grass and lawn recovery. Aerating Thatching Co. cannot be responsible for damage or reduced results caused by subsequent applications we did not perform or direct.
In particular, avoid applying herbicides to young newly seeded turf unless the product label specifically permits use at that stage. Do not automatically add additional fertilizer immediately after a service that already included Starter Fertilizer.
